Minutes of AGM held on 15th September 2025 at St. Werburgh's Club

Chester and District Bagatelle League AGM 2025

The evening was attended by around thirty people (no accurate record was taken) and Apologies received from Neil Davies.  Chairman Eddie Wicks opened the meeting at 8pm.

1.    Election of Officials:

The committee remains the same as last years, with the additions of an Assistant. Secretary John Pritchard, and Matthew Smith and Andy Thomas joined as new members. Welcome Matthew and Andy.

Full Committee: Life President: John Pritchard, Chairman: Eddie Wicks, Vice Chairman: Neil Davies, Secretary: Pat Wallace, Assistant Secretary: John Pritchard, Treasurer: Neil Davies, other committee members: Paul Anstey, Rob Bawn, Luke Evans, Richard Evans, Suzanne Johnson, Shaun Murphy, Ted Randles, Matthew Smith, Andy Thomas, Simon Ward, Nigel Walker, Martin White, Paul Williams.

2.    Statement of accounts: Presented to the meeting by Chairman Eddie as Treasurer Neil was not present. The Accounts were agreed unanimously.

3.    Proposals: There were three proposals to consider.

Proposals 1 and 2     Submitted by N. Davies
1. The Home team only on table from
8.00pm to 8.15pm. The Away Team only from 8.15pm to 8.30pm.
2. Two members from each team to serve on the Committee.

Proposal 3      Submitted by S. Safina
3. I wish to make a proposal to play Singles and Doubles on a Thursday night in the Winter League.  The benefits would free up space for other matches to be played at the end of the Winter League.

The voting was as follows:
Proposal 1: For 8, Against 0, Abstain 1 ...... Carried
Proposal 2: For 5, Against 2, Abstain 0 ...... Carried
Proposal 3: For 1, Against 4, Abstain 2 ...... Rejected

4.    Any other business: Shaun Murphy was collecting the league entrance fees in Neil's absence, and he announced that there will be 14 (fourteen) teams in the league for the 2025/2026 season. The teams are the ten which finished last season, namely Upton B, Bawn Lodge, St. Werburgh's, Egerton Arms, Union Vaults, Cross Foxes, Greyhound Saughall, Upton A, Bridgewater Arms and Westminster Park..... plus the return of St. Theresa's, and we welcome three new teams... Egerton B, Little Oak and Little Oak Ladies.

Some discussion followed about the format for next season, and a committee meeting has been arranged for Monday 22nd September to discuss this.   With 14 teams it was suggested that we might have to have two divisions with 7 teams in each, as there aren't enough Wednesdays in a year to cater for all the league and cup games that a single league would generate.   The committee will decide next Monday.

Westminster Park asked if they could not have home games on 1st and 29th October as the club is booked for private functions, and this will be taken into account.

There being no other business Eddie closed the meeting at 9pm.

Minutes by John Pritchard Assistant Secretary.
