Bill Webber indicated before the meeting that he could no longer undertake the Secretaries duties and, in the absence of any other volunteer, John Pritchard agreed to take on the Secretary's role.  In a way it makes sense, as one of the main duties is to distribute the various sheets and bulletins around all the pubs and clubs which John prints anyway.

Jacqui Jones is no longer the League Treasurer, so in the absence of any other volunteer, Nigel Walker agreed to take on the role of Treasurer, a role he had taken on last season when Jacqui resigned from the post.

Four others present were officially elected to the Committee, and anyone else is welcome to attend our general meetings to witness the various cup draws etc.

2. Statement of Accounts

The Acting Treasurer presented the Balance Sheet for 2006 and copies were available for those present.  Dave Cooper proposed that the Balance Sheet be accepted, this was seconded by Steve Evans and carried unanimously.

3. Any Other Business

No written correspondence was received so the floor was opened for general discussion.  We were delighted to see representatives from the Egerton Arms, Railway Inn, Stanley Arms and Union Vaults present and all indicated they wished to enter teams in the Winter League. Sadly, Ian Price informed the meeting that the White Horse will not be able to enter a team this season due to a shortage of players, and was promptly invited to join the Egerton!

The Winter League will start on Wednesday, 1st November 2006 and signing on sheets for the cup competitions will be distributed very shortly along with the fixture list.  The format for the various competitions was briefly discussed.  Basically, there will be no change from last year.  The Winter League, West Cheshire Shield and Northgate Cup competitions will all be for teams of 8 players.  In the event a team does not have 8 players available, a maximum of two players will be allowed to play again.  Thus, if a team has only 6 players available then 2 will be allowed to play again.  If a team has 7 players then 1 person can play again.  The player/s to play again will be decided by the opposing captain drawing lots.

For the Five-A-Side competition, in the event of a team only having 4 players available then 1 player will be allowed to play again, this will be decided by the opposing captain drawing lots.

We now have 10 confirmed teams for the Winter League and I am waiting this week to see if the Home Guard Club and Saltney Social Clubs can be persuaded to participate in the forthcoming season.  The fixtures will be published as soon as it is known how many teams have definitely entered, probably early next week.  I will also distribute a set of rules to each pub along with a "quick guide to bagatelle in Chester" for the new pubs which I will write this week!

There being no other business, the chairman thanked everyone for attending and closed the meeting at 8.40pm.
